Mr Andrew Turnbull

Mr Andrew Turnbull is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, who specialises in cornea, cataract and laser eye surgery. Andrew is well known for utilising cutting edge surgical techniques, such as the use of toric lenses for the management of astigmatism during cataract and lens surgery.

Andrew qualified as a doctor in 2009 at the University of Southampton, and went on to gain several postgraduate qualifications, including his PG Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee, PG Diploma in Refractive and Cataract Surgery from Ulster University and a Certificate of Completion in Ophthalmic Specialist Training with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. During this training, he undertook a fellowship at University Hospital Southampton, as well as training in complex cataract surgery and laser eye surgery at the Cincinnati Eye Institute under internationally renowned Ophthalmologists; Michael Snyder and Robert Osher. Upon completion of his specialist training, he was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in 2018. Andrew is also an active member of the research and teaching community, where he is well respected for training junior eye surgeons and junior ophthalmologists. His research is dedicated to improving patient outcomes in eye surgery, and he has contributed to over 20 peer reviewed papers, some of which have been acknowledged and acclaimed by surgical bodies, such as the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
