Mr Christopher Buckle is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee and hip surgery, with a particular focus on the treatment of arthritis — from early diagnosis and non-surgical options to advanced personalised arthroplasty solutions, robotic-assisted knee replacement and complex revision joint surgery.
He is based at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, one of the UK’s leading hospitals and a centre of excellence in orthopaedics, joint reconstruction, and revision arthroplasty. Mr Buckle plays a key role in the regional complex and revision joint replacement network, treating patients with painful, infected, or failing knee replacements referred from across the region.
His practice focuses on personalised, minimally invasive joint replacement techniques, including the use of robotics, computer planning, and evidence-based enhanced recovery pathways to optimise patient outcomes.
Mr Buckle graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine in 2009, receiving Proxime Accessit to the University of London Gold Medal. He completed higher surgical training in orthopaedics across London and the South-East of England, followed by a prestigious fellowship in complex hip and knee reconstruction at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford.
Before entering medicine, he qualified and practised as a physiotherapist — a background that continues to influence his holistic, team-based approach to patient care, rehabilitation, and recovery.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Science from the University of Oxford and remains actively involved in clinical research, medical education, and the training of junior surgeons across the Southeast Thames orthopaedic training programme.

Mr Christopher Buckle is friendly, professional, and explains everything well. He shows excellent surgical skill, with many patients achieving quick recovery and a painless return to daily activities. Patients appreciate his reassuring manner, feeling confident in his expertise and receiving comprehensive care from consultation to recovery. His practice mainly addresses hip replacement, and focuses on alleviating considerable knee pain.
Mr Buckle was most assuring how I was getting on with my recovery.
Yes don’t be afraid to speak to private Doctors . I suffered with chronic pain for 6 months under the national health . They don’t have the doctors or money to spend on so many people . I lost weight though pain and I changes from a happy lady to just feeling like giving up. I went on line to speak to a doc and I was given a phone no . With in 2 days I had a scan on a Sunday . Knew why my pain was so bad . A few days later I saw a lovely doc at the hospital and he knew straight away what to do He drained loads of liquid off my knee and what a wonderful relief . Then 2 injections which is helping all ready . Price wise it’s very good . Very affordable . I know will always go in that direction . Thank you for giving my happiness back.
Partial knee replacement went well. Couldn’t fault any of the care I’d received while at Fordcombe. Very pleased with both surgeon and anaesthetist as I walked out of the hospital, on the same day as the surgery, on crutches, faster than I’d walked in that morning and felt fine. Considering the surgery had minimal pain, no problems and glued scar was very tidy. Support from “hands on” physio has been invaluable and at 6 weeks post op life has returned to normal. Would definitely recommend.
Mr Buckle was pleasant, a good listener and very honest when discussing my options. His letter summarising the discussion arrived the following day (this is very quick and efficient in my experience) and was an accurate summary. His secretary Emily Millard is one of the most efficient medical secretaries I’ve encountered.
As always very attentive and answers all my questions clearly so that I understand. Puts you at ease and doesn't rush you. He's also an excellent surgeon having been under his care twice now and hopefully a third time later this year I would thoroughly recommend him.
Mr Buckle gave me down to earth advice in initial consultation which helped me make an informed decision about my procedure. His visit pre and post op was welcome and my surgery went to plan without complications. I put a lot of faith in his abilities and would be confident in recommending him to others. Great job!
I am grateful for my care, treatment and overall experience. Everything was perfect .
I felt he listened and had a sense of humour. Very approachable and willing to answer silly questions. I felt I was in good hands. I particularly like the fact he used glue instead of clips for the wound closure
Mr Buckle. Oh, good news, very helpful. And very thorough
