Dr Arif Aslam shows a professional, caring, and reassuring approach with patients. His skill in Mohs surgery for skin cancers, such as basal cell carcinoma, gives excellent cosmetic results and little scarring. Dr Aslam provides clear explanations and good aftercare, which helps patients feel comfortable and supported. Overall, key themes are Mohs surgery and effective skin cancer treatment.
Dr Aslam is very approachable and ensured I was fully informed about my diagnosis and the treatment I required. Having never had a skin cancer previously I had some questions alongside a couple of concerns, all of which he calmly and patiently answered, which helped me to feel reassured when dealing with a health scare.
There was a non healing spot on my temple which would not go away after using a cream for sun damage from my GP. I chose to see Dr Aslam who suggested it may be a skin cancer. A biopsy was done which confirmed it was and then he treated it with Mohs surgery. Today I returned for a review and we both struggled to find the scar. It has healed perfectly and I am delighted with the results. He is now treating some other sun spots with a freeze spray and cream and I shall return to see him again. He is excellent and the best!
I had Mohs surgery on the side of my nose and cheek and I am very pleased with the result.
I am a 52-year-old woman and recently had Mohs surgery performed by Dr Arif Aslam on three areas of my face — two on my nose and one on my left temple. Initially, I was referred by my GP to the NHS maxillofacial surgery department for a lesion on my nose, where skin grafting was discussed. I was very worried about how my nose would look afterwards, and to be honest, the thought of a skin graft really upset me. I then went to see Dr Aslam for another opinion, and I am so grateful that I did. He carried out a very thorough skin check, paying close attention to my face, and identified two further areas of concern — another site on my nose, separate from the original lesion, and one on my left temple, which I had honestly assumed was just a scar. Dr Aslam performed Mohs surgery on all three sites. I was especially anxious about having surgery on two areas of my nose and what the cosmetic result might be, but I could not be happier with the outcome. He reconstructed both areas using flaps, and now the scars are incredibly difficult to see. The result looks so natural, and I am genuinely delighted. The temple area was more straightforward, but throughout the whole process I felt very reassured and looked after. Dr Aslam’s work is meticulous, and the results speak for themselves. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found him and would not trust anybody else with my face. One positive thing I have taken away from all of this is a much better understanding of sun protection. I enjoy sailing and now realise just how important sunscreen is — while my experience was very positive,...
Read moreI was referred by the hospital for MOHs surgery for an infiltrative patterned BCC on my nose. The lesion was between 3 and 5mm so I was not expecting anything significant to happen. Dr Aslam had clearly explained all the possibilities of treatment to me from the straight forward to something called a 2-stage flap. This could be needed if the BCC was bigger than anticipated. In surgery it transpired the BCC was actually much bigger it was 22mm by 21mm and required the 2-stage flap. Dr Aslam and his team were amazing. His bedside manner was kind, calm and human which is what you want when you are frightened. He is very knowledgeable/experienced and I felt in good hands. I had complete confidence in him and his team at all times. They all worked extremely hard to ensure that I (and my partner who was worried) felt reassured and that we understood at every stage what to expect and what was happening. They work extremely well as a team. Lisa his senior nurse was amazing at taking out my many stitches! It was not something you ever want to happen, but I am so very grateful that I was cared for by Dr Aslam and his team. Should I ever need treatment again, (which is possible), I will go straight to Dr Aslam. Deborah B.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your expertise and knowledge in the consultation at Beardwood Hospital. Then subsequently at Spire Hospital Blackpool for the operation you performed on my back. It is not only your clinical knowledge that shone through but your extremely compassionate and caring attitude you showed to me at a time when I was distressed. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me and you are simply outstanding. Thank you so much.
Dr Aslam performed Mohs surgery on my right cheek and the entire experience was both brilliant and amazing. Today I had my eight week check and we both struggled to find the scar. My friends have all been keeping an eye on it and are also so impressed.
I had Mohs surgery on my right temple and have returned for my follow up. It was very difficult to find the scar. Dr Aslam has done an amazing job. The whole experience has been brilliant including the follow up and aftercare. I highly recommend - he is an expert at the top of his field.
From my first meeting with Dr Aslam I knew I was in safe hands. I had a BCC on the tip of my nose which required Mohs surgery and subsequently a forehead flap. Dr Aslam took me through each step in a calm, reassuring manner. He is an excellent surgeon, generous with his time. I am very pleased with the outcome.
On 19th January I went to Dr. Aslam’s clinic in Burnley to have Mohs surgery on a bcc on my left cheek. I travelled all the way from Southend on Sea in Essex to have this procedure done as I had researched widely for a Mohs surgeon that I could trust and who didn’t charge the inflated prices that are common in London. The reviews that I read for Dr. Aslam were amazing and after I had spoken with him on the telephone I was very happy for him to do my surgery. His manner was so kind but also professional, taking great pains to describe exactly what would happen on the day. From the moment I stepped into the clinic I felt calm and relaxed. I am not usually a relaxed person so this was incredible for me. I had lived with the worry of this bcc for nearly a year as I had been on the NHSwaiting list for 8 months before I decided I couldn’t wait any longer so I went privately in Essex for a punch biopsy. This confirmed that I had a bcc that was partly infiltrative and therefore more aggressive than usual bcc’s. After researching this (good old google) I realised that the best outcome would be to have Mohs surgery, even though the private clinic in Essex suggested a normal surgical excision. The clinic in Burnley was spotlessly clean and very welcoming with soft furnishings and snacks, it is part of a spa facility so I didn’t feel like I was in a hospital setting at all. The nurses who were assisting Dr. Aslam were kind and chatty, very much putting me at my ease before the surgery began. I can honestly say that the surgery was painless apart from a small prick of pain when the loc...
