About Matt Frost

Matt Frost
Senior Clinical Audiologist and Hearing Therapist

Matt’s journey into audiology began as a professional musician. He earned a BMus (Hons) with a Concert Recital Diploma in Orchestral Percussion and Drum Kit from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, and performed extensively as an orchestral percussionist and drummer.

Matt has also been shaped by his own experience of hearing difference. Aged 17, he began wearing hearing aids to support his own bilateral hearing loss. This lived experience has been central to shaping both his career and clinical approach, by enabling him to connect with individuals throughout their hearing experience.

Driven by a passion to support others navigating their own hearing journeys, Matt retrained in audiology and began his involvement in research work within the sphere of musicians’ hearing health and advocacy. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Hearing Aid Audiology from Anglia Ruskin University and joined Harley Street Hearing in 2019. Initially supporting clinical services, he qualified as a Clinical Audiologist and Hearing Therapistin 2022, where he now combines his musical expertise with clinical skills to
serve a wide range of hearing needs.

Current Role and Clinical Expertise

Matt’s responsibilities include:

· Comprehensive Adult Audiology – delivering diagnostic hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings, and rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual needs.

·  Specialist Care for Musicians – providing hearing assessments, custom-made hearing protection, and specialist advice for professional and amateur musicians.

· Hearing Therapy – offering tailored support for individuals adjusting to hearing loss, managing tinnitus and hyperacusis, or adapting to hearing technology.

· Custom Hearing Products – advising on and fitting custom in-ear monitors, swim plugs, and other bespoke hearing solutions.

· Wax Removal – safe and effective wax removal using a variety of established techniques, including microsuction and irrigation.

I would like to thank Matt for his patience and understanding and friendly approach and for helping me come to terms with my hearing loss. I feel I can discuss my concerns which I have kept to myself for sometime with Matt and he is there to help me come up with solutions. I feel like I have someone who understands how everyday life is impacted and is able to suggest the best way of moving forward. The fact that Matt wears hearing aids means he is in the best position to understand. His enthusiasm is most welcome I am not expecting miracles but I feel more confident in discussing and dealing with any issues.

I’ve had increasingly bad problems with hearing impairment for twenty years. As a musician, this has been particularly difficult for me in terms of both listening to and playing music, despite having spent a lot of money on hearing aids. Matt is the first expert to have listened carefully, conducted extensive tests, thoroughly explained my issues and dedicated himself to giving me the best possible advice and treatment. After two sessions, my hearing in everyday conversations has vastly improved, and I am better able to enjoy listening to music. I am hopeful that further sessions will fine tune settings for my hearing aids such that playing guitar will once again be enjoyable after decades of frustration. Matt’s enthusiasm, determination and expertise are inspiring and I feel grateful to have found him.

I am in my sixties and have had increasingly bad hearing loss over the past twenty years, impairing everyday interactions but also my appreciation of, and ability to play, music. Guitar has been an integral part of my life since I was 12 and my inability to hear pitch, intonation, harmony and to play with other musicians had not been overcome despite purchasing expensive Phonak digital hearing aids from a well-known high street retailer. I have had two appointments with Matt Frost at Harley Hearing and will have at least one more. Matt took a full history of my issues, explained clearly the physical causes of my hearing difficulties along with a detailed description of how it might be addressed. His desire to listen, to understand the nature of my hearing loss and its profound effects upon my life, allied to his incredible enthusiasm, made me feel hope for the first time in a decade. I feel so lucky to have found him!
