Mr Adam Blackburn

This was my second visit to Mr. Blackburn. I saw him last year in connection with a haematoma and on the basis of that experience I chose to go to him for removal of a large skin tag. On this visit he spotted two suspicious lumps (query neurofibroma) and arranged to remove them as well for histology. I am very squeamish and I found Mr Blackburn very considerate in this respect and the procedure went off seamlessly under local anaesthetic. He gave me clear instructions as to how to care for my wounds particularly in relation to minimising scarring. He also informed me quickly that the lumps were not malignant and we had an adult to adult conversation re the implications of the other lumps being neurofibromas. I found Dr. Blackburn very pleasant to deal with and felt that I was being treated as an informed patient and despite the fact that he is the same age as my youngest son I did not feel that I was being patronised and he involved me in the decisions as to what to do and was reassuring and positive whilst sharing the limitations of current medical knowledge on neurofibromas. My son is a medical research scientist and so I was able to check out the information that Mr. Blackburn was giving me and it was reassuringly up to date!

I found the whole experience efficent, professional , yet caring and every effort was made to put me at ease and feel fully cared for so as to have full confidence in Mr Blackburn and his team. Having 2 procedures on my face scarring was very important to me and this was taken fully on board prior to the procedures and detailed instructions were given on after care to reduce the scarring - to such a degree the scar's are bearly noticiable.

Absolutely thrilled with the results and the entire process, having now undergone two surgeries under Mr Blackburn's care over the past 18 months (abdominoplasty & brachioplasty combined and then a thigh lift). Mr Blackburn is not only an exceptional surgeon, but also very caring, ethical, kind and honest. From the first consultation I felt comfortable and knew I would be in excellent hands. Surgery details, recovery period and expected results were explained clearly and transparently, so I could make well informed decisions. It is evident that Mr Blackburn always strives for the best possible care and outcome for each patient. He is compassionate, professional and will truly listen to understand a patient's needs. The aftercare was also excellent. These surgeries have changed my life and I am so thankful to Mr Blackburn.

I don’t know if I can put into words what Mr Blackburn did for me, after struggling to find a solution for my unique body problem, I was recommended Mr Blackburn. I will always be thankful that he gave me my happiness back, after 2 failed augmentations, a chest defect from birth then in 2024 I had an explant which left my chest looking deformed, I was very unhappy. If I could rate more stars I would! I have felt very lucky to have been treated by Adam, who has carried out a Diep reconstruction, Lipo modelling and scar revision following a mastectomy. His calmness, knowledgeable explanations gave me confidence throughout my treatment that I was in the best hands. Absolutely thrilled with the final outcome and now confident to face the world ‘whole’ again.
