Mr Stuart Mailer is a Consultant Physiotherapist with more than 25 years of experience working at the highest levels of healthcare and sports medicine. Throughout his career he has treated professional athletes, elite performers and patients from a wide range of backgrounds, specialising in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports-related injuries. His clinical expertise focuses particularly on knee, foot and ankle, and shoulder conditions, as well as sports injuries in both adults and children aged eight years and above.

Mr Mailer began his academic training with a degree in Physical Education in 1996, before progressing to Sports Therapy and later studying osteopathic techniques. He qualified as a physiotherapist in 2002 and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine in 2010. He has also undertaken doctoral research, which is currently on hold. In addition to physiotherapy, he is qualified as a personal trainer, sports therapist, Pilates instructor and acupuncturist. Over the course of his career he has completed extensive postgraduate training in areas including kinesiology taping, spinal manipulation, tendinopathy management and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rehabilitation.

His professional development has included working closely with leading orthopaedic surgeons in both the United Kingdom and the United States. He spent time studying at the internationally recognised Steadman Clinic in the United States and trained alongside leading orthopaedic specialists at the London Foot and Ankle Centre and the Fortius Clinic in London.

Early in his career he served as Head of Sports Science at Sutton Tennis Academy, where he worked with more than 100 elite tennis players and collaborated with organisations including the Lawn Tennis Association and Tennis Australia. Since qualifying as a physiotherapist he has acted as lead sports physiotherapist at numerous professional sporting events and has worked with Olympic champions, World and European athletics medallists, Wimbledon, French Open and US Open tennis champions, British boxing champions, European and British judo champions, and IndyCar racing drivers.

Mr Mailer also spent five years working with Chelsea Football Club, providing physiotherapy services from academy level through to the reserve squad. His work later expanded into motorsport, where he supported professional drivers in competitions such as Asia Formula 3 and the IndyCar series, including participation in the Indianapolis 500.

Mr Mailer is also a recognised writer and contributor to health and fitness publications. He has written or contributed to more than 100 articles for publications including Women’s Health, Men’s Running, Women’s Running and the Daily Mail, and contributed to the book Run Yourself Fit. In addition, he has worked alongside orthopaedic specialists as a consultant physiotherapist for knee and foot and ankle groups, helping to develop rehabilitation protocols for both surgical and non-surgical treatment of orthopaedic injuries.

After many years working in London and travelling internationally with athletes and performers, Mr Mailer has returned to Scotland where he now practises at Stuart Mailer Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine, continuing to treat patients and athletes both in person and through remote consultation.

As a high level skateboarder of over 20 years I’ve had many serious injuries. Stuart Mailer was recommended to me by a top knee surgeon as the best physio and I’ve been working with him since 2021. Without Stuart’s dedicated help I wouldn’t be physically able to do what I can today. He has an extensive almost overwhelming amount of knowledge about each and every part of the body and how to rehab each correctly. I cannot recommend him highly enough, on top of all that he has an incredibly personable demeanour. We shared many laughs together during each of my injury rehabs and I always looked forward to my appointments with Stuart. Whether you are looking for someone to help with aches and pains or serious complex sports injuries, Stuart Mailer is your man. Absolute legend.

I went to see Stuart about my ongoing shoulder problems from Tennis. Stuart was very thorough in his assessment and explanation and I'm now back playing tennis pain free.

Great practice and great Physios. Easy to get to and very clean and modern with great equipment. I have seen Stuart Mailer and Niamh Pert for my knee and I was very happy with their assessment and treatments and rehab plan. Very detailed and professional overall

During my most recent visit Stuart undertook a careful measured assessment of my knee/leg function, providing excellent feedback as to the next stage of my recovery, a new exercise plan, which he led me through, as well as some immediate muscle rehabilitation. Great work.

Would always highly recommend seeing Stuart! I've been so see him a few times with running injuries and he's always put me at ease and given me quick and very helpful advice! Went in with a knee injury and after a half hour appointment I was back running that evening! 10/10
